How To Fit A Little Bathroom Shower

What do you do if you want to add a shower but you have a very little bathroom?

There's nothing that I like better (well maybe there is one thing) than soaking in a hot bathtub. I be capable of spend hours in it just relaxing and forgetting that the world outside exists. Sadly I very rarely get the chance to do this nowadays because I always seem to be so busy. Most of the time I use a shower and before I remodeled my little bathroom my shower was above the bathtub. It was a situation that I hated and I was determined to include a separate shower in my bathroom remodeling project.

The first thing to remember is that there usually is a way to do these things and you mustn't give up before you've really thought about the problem. Don't be put off by the fact that you don't seem to have much room to play with in your bathroom design.

Let’s take a look at your options

Remove the bathtub and dump it

Discarding the bathtub should give you more than enough room to fit in a dimension able shower enclosure. The problem is that you won't have a bath anymore. While this might suit your current lifestyle you might want to think about what you might need a few years in the prospect and when you come to move out and sell your property.

When you sell your property you will want it to have a bathroom with a bathtub even if it has a great shower. Buyers seem to expect to find a bath in the bathroom and the lack of one be capable of seriously affect the selling price of your property.

Design a shower over your bathtub

If you have no other option you be capable of install a showerhead above your bathtub together with a shower curtain or splashguard. This should be the easiest solution, as it will take up no additional floor space. Personally I'm not keen on this option.

The Wet Room approach

This is an ambitious design that will involve turning the floor of your entire bathroom into a giant shower base and drain. It be capable of be a very expensive option to convert a conventional bathroom into wet room but it has the advantage of allowing you to put your little bathroom shower anywhere you like. Even over the toilet if you want to although I wouldn't advise it.

Install a curved quadrant shower cubicle

The option that I like best for any bathroom is to install a separate shower enclosure either free standing in the room or in a corner of the bathroom. This is a great solution if you be capable of find the space to accommodate the shower enclosure.

Even the littlest of shower enclosure is better than none at all in my opinion so you should check out the available dimensions and determine the littlest dimension of enclosure that you would be happy with. You be capable of always go up a dimension if you manage to design enough free space into your makeover.

Depending on how little your bathroom is you may need to look at many ways of saving space. There are some very little and narrow toilets available and your washbasin be capable of be tiny if necessary. Use some graph paper to help arrange the new fixtures in the most efficient manner. Cutting out the shapes of your new fixtures and moving them into different arrangements on your graph paper be capable of be fun.

Finally look at curved quadrant shower enclosures as a space saving alternative to square or rectangular ones. Finding one of these was the turning point in my little bathroom shower design. Everything fell into place nicely after that.
